Tarquin a much loved pet has been missing since yesterday afternoon (Sunday 11th June) we think from either Palmerston Road or Christchurch.which is very unusual for him.

If you see him, he should come when called and is very friendly.

Palewell Pond Vandalism

Please take time to pop by one of our community blogs which covers one of our most precious green spaces, Palewell Common & Fields.  It would be great to get feedback and perhaps find out all the behind scenes activity that goes on by local volunteers who act as guardians for mother nature.  You can find the blog here:  Palewell Common & Fields

I write because recently I went down to admire the Palewell Pond that the volunteers have spent so much dedicated time on maintaining and creating in the first place, along with other local groups.  Having taken some photos, I didn’t get time to post them before finding out the horrible news that vandals had in fact attempted to ruin this wonderful area.

You can read the full post here:  Palewell Pond Vandalism

You might want to consider supporting The Friends of Palewell Common and Fields by becoming a member, it’s a mere £10 per annum for individual or family membership.  In return for this £10 you get a sense of ownership and participation in supporting The Friends and joining in with a local community group to keep our green space as it should be for the enjoyment of others.

I visited the Cavan Bakery, what a lovely affair!

I visited the Cavan Bakery, what a lovely affair!

Most of you will know that the Cavan Bakery opened up at 51 Sheen Lane.

There was a wonderful write up from the Richmond and Twickenham Times about their opening weekend, where they gave away 500 FREE loaves, you can see the write up here: Cavan Bakery Opening Weekend

However unfortunately I did not get there at the weekend but made an impromptu visit today (Monday).  I was extremely pleasantly surprised.  Firstly what caught my eye being a very novice baker myself is that they sell a wide variety of flours for all your wonderful home-made creations.

Then in the window you will see the usual sticky tempting treats, which got my son slowing up as he passed the window.

The welcome was cheery, bright and genuine.  I came in with a wealth of questions about their breads, all of which were answered.

I walked away with a Bath Bun and a Rye Bread, both reasonably priced.

As you can see the bun did not last long, was light and sweet, the bread oh boy though, usually I am not a huge fan of Rye but know the benefits of eating it.  This however was on a different level, apparently it has a little bit of white added to it, lightening it up and this works a treat, it was so flavoursome and soft.

I will definitely be back for another loaf!

My son kept saying “wow they are a good bakery mummy”.  I have to agree!

Please pick up your dog poo!

An important message to dog walkers that use any green space in #EastSheen

Friends of Palewell Common & Fields

Please pick up your dog poo!

dog-poops-sign Responsible pet ownership

We aim for Palewell Common and Fields to be a pleasant place for everyone to use and as most know we have a variety of users from footballers, cricketers, children, adults, dog walkers both professional and personal.

There is sadly however an increase in dog poo being left on the ground, in an hour and a half I found 10 piles of dog faecal matter whilst walking with my children.

  • Please remember to take out enough bags with you when you go walking, I estimate it’s safe to say 2 per dog on one walk minimum.
  • If you are walking more than one dog please keep an eye on ALL of them, as it is too easy for some to wander off unseen and dog their business which is then left for others to come across.
  • If you do happen to run out…
