Did you know that we have a monthly Antiques Market here in East Sheen?
On the first Friday of this month I happened to need to go to the Doctors and on the way I saw some signs for a market which was being held in the large hall next to the Library in the Sheen Lane Centre on Sheen Lane.
Of course, me being me, I can never miss a market or a fair or any kind of explorative shopping, so I headed in.
Having grown up with a step father who restored antique furniture and being surrounded with quite an eclectic array of possessions from all around the world I would imagine that this is what has nurtured my appreciation.
I was not disappointed, it was what I call a ‘proper‘ market.
In that I mean, firstly there were all types of things there to buy from all corners of the world and from many periods. The stall holders weren’t novices they had been doing this for years and very happy to chat about the history of each item and for a talkative soul like me made for a very pleasant experience.
They describe their market as selling:
I found much more than this, so if you are free next month, please do pop along.
Here are some pictures I took on the day, it is with my iPhone so not the best quality. (you can double click on one picture to pull up a full size gallery)
Details of the next date etc you will find below…
I think this market might possibly be a well kept secret, it has been going since 1985 so I was told.
- The next date for it will be Friday 6th June 2014
- Time: 9am – 1.30pm
You will also find homemade refreshments being served and a nice cosy atmosphere with friends new and old.
There is a waiting list for stalls but if you do wish to enquire the number is: 0208 393 2042
Thank you as always for reading and viewing, Justine x
